*Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva teaches sentient beings this Great Compassion Mantra, also called the Nīlakaṇṭha Dhāraṇī (dhāraṇī of the blue-necked one), for longevity, prosperity, healing of diseases, protection against evils, and rebirth in Amitābha Buddha’s Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. There are several versions of this mantra in the Chinese Buddhist Canon.
